As an instructor of Spanish language and Hispanic literatures, cultures, and film, three principles guide my teaching:

1) to show students the cultural diversity of Spanish-speaking communities around the world and how cultural differences affect the ways we communicate,

2) to highlight that Spanish is a vibrant language in constant change with a rich history, and

3) to stress that Spanish, just like any other language, provides a particular way to see the world and, hence, is a vehicle to examine all aspects of human knowledge, including science and technology.

Idioma español

Como instructor de lengua española y literatura, cultura y cine hispánicos, tres principios guían mi enseñanza:

1) mostrar a los estudiantes la diversidad cultural de las comunidades de habla hispana en todo el mundo y cómo las diferencias culturales afectan las formas en que nos comunicamos,

2) resaltar que el español es un idioma vivo, en constante cambio y con una rica historia, y

3) enfatizar que el español, al igual que cualquier otro idioma, proporciona una forma particular de ver el mundo y, por lo tanto, es un vehículo para examinar todos los aspectos del conocimiento humano, incluidas la ciencia y la tecnología.
