I spend most of my time at the intersection of the humanities and the sciences. So far, I have taken my research into two distinct, but interrelated, paths:
1) the study of social and cultural issues related to science and technology through the analysis of their representations.
2) the role of the Spanish language in scientific and technical contexts.
I have particularly concentrated my attention on two general domains: health and the environment. These domains provide countless opportunities to examine, from an interdisciplinary historically-informed perspective, how different areas of human knowledge converge, and sometimes collide, when we seek to make sense of the world around us.
Paso la mayor parte de mi tiempo en la intersección de las humanidades y las ciencias. Hasta ahora, he llevado mi investigación en dos caminos distintos, pero interrelacionados:
1) el estudio de cuestiones sociales y culturales relacionadas con la ciencia y la tecnología a través del análisis de sus representaciones.
2) el rol de la lengua española en contextos científicos y técnicos.
Particularmente he concentrado mi atención en dos áreas de conocimiento científico: salud y medio ambiente. Estas áreas brindan innumerables oportunidades para examinar, desde una perspectiva histórica e interdisciplinaria, cómo convergen diferentes áreas del conocimiento humano, y a veces chocan, cuando buscamos explicar el mundo que nos rodea.
