I examine the representations of toxic chemicals (in literature and film, but also in other texts like scholarly journals) for two main reasons: 1) I believe they provide some light on how scientific notions are used, and have been used, to make sense of everyday life, and 2) they help us understand how humans think about their place in the natural world.
Examino las representaciones de productos químicos tóxicos (en literatura y cine, pero también en otros textos como revistas académicas) por dos razones principales: 1) Creo que proporcionan claves sobre cómo se usan, y se han usado, nociones científicas para explicar cuestiones relacionadas con la vida cotidiana, y 2) nos ayudan a comprender cómo piensan los humanos sobre su lugar en el mundo natural.
